The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief
by Francis S. Collins
Head of the Human Genome Project, Dr. Francis Collins, is one of the world’s leading scientists. He works at the cutting edge of the study of DNA, the code of life. Yet, he is also a man of unshakable faith in God and scripture. He explains his own journey from atheism to faith, and then takes readers on a stunning tour of modern science to show that physics, chemistry, and biology can all fit together with belief in God and the Bible. [Dr. Collins provides a satisfying solution for the dilemma that haunts everyone who believes in God and respects science.]

Weight Watchers of Arizona
Next series begins Saturday, February 20 .
Saturdays, at 9:30 a.m, in the Rehearsal Room
Research has shown that people who establish healthy eating habits and exercise programs along with nutritional education and encouragement are people who lose weight and keep it off. Excess weight leads to a greater risk of heart disease, diabetes, more stress on knee and hip joints, and sleep apnea. One KOG participant found that she could run with the grandchildren with greater ease and fun after losing over 15 pounds. Through the Weight Watchers program participants learn good nutritional habits, have a weight loss goal, and increase the activity level – all within a supportive, uplifting environment. Participants share their successes and trials along with hints to make each week a success. The Weight Watchers leader is dynamite.  Want to check out a meeting? – come on Saturday, February 6 or 13, 9:30 am at no cost. KOG Weight Watchers meetings are for the entire community. Invite others to come with you.  Registration for the 10 weeks is $140 (payable to KOG); includes educational meetings and handouts.  Contact: Karen Hernandez, Director of Health Ministries

Valentine's Day Blood Drive
Sunday, February 14, 7:15 a.m. - noon

Your one unit has the potential of enhancing the lives of three people in hospitals throughout Arizona. Register at the Welcome Center or online, www.bloodhero.com (sponsor code king). Be a Hero--donate the Gift of Life - truly a gift from the heart.

At the end of each week you report the number of steps and/or minutes of various activities to the team captain who will gently encourage increasing activity or loudly praise for your good efforts. Walking can include everyday activities, treadmill walks, walks in the neighborhood, hiking, etc. Get up off the couch and increase your activity level --- come Walk Across Arizona.
