Bible Study
Sunday Study

Sunday Mornings at 9:15 a.m., Lower Level KOG Center
We are enjoying the leadership of several facilitators this season, and January will bring Ruth Comstock Spencer to lead us in a study of our Gifts as Christians. Since everyone has gifts, our time together will help us to find our special “groove” (it will be a groovy class, Ruth promises!). Ruth’s style always includes candor and humor, and she has invited some friends to share their stories.

Powerful Tools for Caregiver (PTC) is a national program that was developed to provide family caregivers with tools to increase their self-care and confidence. This class is limited to 10 participants and is for caregivers to a parent, spouse or other older adult. Instructors: Jamie Flesher, RN and Karen Hernandez, RN.

Outreach
Tree of Love
November 30 - December 21
Our major congregational outreach will be our traditional Tree of Love. It will provide support to Maggie's Place, a home for expectant mothers who live alone or are homeless; Family Resource Center of Tempe, which works to provide for families in need/crises; and Paz de Cristo, which works in Mesa to provide daily meals to the homeless and support to families in need.

Gift cards may be given in amounts of $10 - $25 from Payless Shoes, Sears,
K-Mart, Kohl's and Fry's...or very treasured bus tickets.

Simply 1) select a heart from the tree; 2) purchase the request; and 3) return it to the Welcome Center or church office by noon, Sunday, December 21. Both the tree and a scrip table will be located in the narthex beginning Sunday, November 30.

Trip to Navajo Mission Lutheran School, Rock Point, AZ
The suggestion came from Luther Paine, KOG dentist, that members of our congregation might make a trip to our Lutheran Mission at Rock Point, Arizona. The participants would contribute a service project, based on the needs there and on the skill level of the group. Also, we would make a visit to Canyon de Chelly. We are on the calendar for the first week in May; dates, cost and itinerary will be announced as the group forms. Could YOU consider this outing? This one is designed for folks of all ages. Watch for more information.

Paz de Cristo

February 8, 2009 & March 8, 2009 from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Each month volunteers from KOG prepare meals, serve and clean up at Paz de Cristo, a community-based organization located near Broadway and Country Club in Mesa. YOU can become a part of this rewarding experience, too. Sign up at the Welcome Center on Sundays or call the church office weekdays. We need 16 volunteers each month.

A New Habitat For Humanity Home
The home was dedicated on December 13 for a young mother with two children. This is the sixth HFH home King of Glory has assisted with - Mike Wilkins has been our project leader on this one.

Habitat donations qualify as an Arizona Tax Credit (not just a deduction) for
donations to the working poor for up to $400 for a couple filing jointly and $200 for
an individual. Thus your contributions cost you nothing but give so much. Please
make checks to King of Glory and designate HFH. To date we have received
$5000.00 in the past few months.
