Children's Programs
Whether working with a 2-year-old or a 6th grader, KOG is blessed with a caring staff, dedicated to the spiritual education of our children. Our ministry with children not only instructs them in the faith but designs outreach programs and fellowship activities for the children and their families. This is all made possible by many volunteers as they cradle God’s children.

Early Childhood Program

Summer Adventures In Learning (S.A.I.L) presents:

All God’s Children

God’s children are kind, honest, and so much more!

Come join us this summer as we learn what it means to be a “child of God.”

Summer Adventures in Learning is a program designed for children 2 yrs. old through those who recently completed Kindergarten. It will run each Sunday morning from June 1st – August 17th at the 10:00 a.m. service ONLY. Children will begin in the sanctuary with their families and during the service, they will be excused to attend SAIL. The program will consist of a group gathering time (story/songs) followed by an age-appropriate craft and game/activity. Parent participation and leadership is encouraged…if you are able to help a Sunday or two please contact Susan Bell, Director of Early Childhood.

Early Childhood Sunday School
Primary Sunday school is for children ages 2 yrs. – kindergarten at the 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services. At the 9:15 a.m. service, children begin in the sanctuary with their families and then are dismissed to their classrooms during the service. At the 10:45 a.m. service, children report directly to their classrooms. The classrooms are located in the Children’s Center. Classes run from the beginning of September to the end of May. The program consists of group gathering time (song, prayer, and offering) along with exciting classroom instruction based on Group (publisher) Hands-On Curriculum. Children study stories from the Old and New Testaments through age appropriate crafts, games and activities.

PAST EVENTS

Parents Night Out
April 25 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
This was a night for kids (ages 2 years to 6th grade) full of games, crafts, and food, all while you had a night out. This event was sponsored by the high school youth who are going on the Mission Trip this summer. It was an opportunity for you to support them on their mission trip.

Early Childhood Easter Celebration & Egg Hunt
Saturday, March 22, 9:0 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Lower KOG center and plaza.
The baskets were ready…the Easter Bunny came to King of Glory! For children in nursery through Kindergarten and their families…this was a fun filled Easter experience. They enjoyed a breakfast snack while dying/decorating Easter eggs for Paz de Cristo, playing games, making crafts, hunting for eggs and meeting the Easter Bunny!

The Jerusalem Journey
Palm Sunday, March 16, 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
Children experienced hands-on Palm Sunday activities in their classrooms while attending a special Crossover Presentation at the Jerusalem Theater (Lower KOG Center). They came, relaxed between services and enjoyed soothing sounds from the past, fellowship, and breakfast on the plaza.
Adults who attended the Jerusalem Theater had special showings from 10:20 a.m. - 10:40 a.m. and 11:50 - 12:05 p.m. in the Lower KOG Center.

Children’s Ministry Potluck
Sunday, September 16th
It was a wonderful way to start another great school year for all the families with children in the Nursery, Early Childhood, Elementary and Crossover programs. Everyone enjoyed food, fellowship and fun. There was also opportunity to meet Kari Williamson, our new associate pastor.

Youth and Family Ministry Super Soaker Sunday

Sunday, November 4, 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Papago Park in Tempe

We called all families, nursery through Crossover...it was time to have some soakin' fun! We had a good old fashion family style picnic in the park (you provide food and beverage for you & your family). We had a large ramada with bench seating or you brought along your blankets and found a beautiful spot on the grass. The ramada was next to a large playground and open field where we had some fun with water games and relays.

Western Style Hayride & Cookout
Saturday, November 17 4:00 p.m.
Sunday School families got together for a wonderful 'hayride' and 'cowboy...or girl' dinner at D-Spur Ranch in the Superstition foothills near Gold Canyon.

Congregational Christmas Program
Sunday, December 9, 9:15 a.m. service only

The children of KOG joined together as Hoshmaka's journey continued in "Hoshmaka Returns...an old camel with a new life."
In 2006 the children introduced us to a camel who visited the manger of Jesus. It was now time for Hoshmaka to return home, but he had a new job...what was it? Following the program, the children returned to their classrooms for a cookie reception.

Breakfast with Santa
Sunday, December 16, 10:45 a.m. service
Ho ho ho! Santa came to visit the children at KOG. He read a story and visited with them while they played games, made crafts, and sang Christmas carols. A special time for all.
