Welcome to our New Music Directors

Cyndee Chaffee , Director of Music
Miloy Canete , Associate Director of Music

We are grateful to God for guiding our Search Team through these months of reviewing resumes and interviews. After receiving their evaluations, the Executive Council enthusiastically and unanimously extended invitations to Cyndee and Miloy to join our church and music staff. Both will be at worship September 7.

Cyndee Chaffee received a Bachelor of Choral Music Education from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and has sung professionally with the Roger Wagner Chorale, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the Fields Chorus, the London Symphony Chorus and Dale Warland Singers. A professional clarinetist, she has served the past 12 years as Dirctor of Music at several churches including Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley and most recently at Desert Hills Lutheran in Green Valley, Arizona. She is also the founder of the 90 voice Catalinas Community Chorus as well as the Clarinet Ensemble of Greater Oro Valley. A very gifted and accomplished musician, Cyndee has a mature faith, excellent organizing and motivational skills.

Miloy Canete, pronounced Cah-nyet (long a) received his Diploma in Creative and Performing Music and Arts, a Bachelor of Music (piano) both from the University of the Philippines and his Master in Music (piano) from ASU. Currently a Doctoral Candidate in piano at ASU, Miloy has served as organist, pianist and liturgist at the Newman Center (ASU), Abiding Savior and Mount of Olives Lutheran Churches, and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Most recently as the Director of Music at Shepherd of the Valley, Phoenix he directed and accompanied the adult choir, directed the children’s choir, contemporary band, a yearly classical concert series and an after school guitar program. Miloy also founded an After-School Music Academy at Mount of Olives which provided free music lessons to underprivileged children of the area. Miloy brings extensive experience leading worship, a great appreciation for different musical styles and a passionate spirit.

Both will bring the best of traditional and contemporary music to KOG and a commitment to outreach. To provide them time to become oriented to our church and its considerable music talent, we are thankful that Marilyn Lingwall, Bev Hamilton and Debbie Engelsman have agreed to serve as interim directors this fall.
