Paul Bio ImageSenior Pastor, Paul Finley

Pastor Paul hails from southern Minnesota where he received a Bachelor of Music degree at St. Olaf College and a Master of Divinity degree at Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He was ordained in 2000 and served two churches in southern California before becoming our Senior Pastor in 2016. He loves to teach and preach the Bible, lead short-term mission trips abroad and help people discover their God-given talents, utilizing them to bless others. Paul and Karissa, his wife of 20 years, enjoy family time with their two boys, Liam and Torin, hiking, playing board games and building Legos. He also enjoys movies, reading, singing, playing piano and guitar, acting in community theater, Apple computers and everything Star Wars related.

Assistant Pastor,  Rachael Dales

Pastor Rachael grew up at King of Glory. She is fondly remembered for leading campfires and snipe hunts in her teen years. Rachael graduated from ASU with a teaching degree in 1986. She moved to Upstate New York in 1989 where she taught in the Schenectady Public Schools and became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She worked her way from volunteer to full-time staff in the areas of worship development, music ministry and as the Children, Youth and Family Minister. This is where she first heard the call to public ministry leadership. She also earned a Master of Science in Curriculum Development from SUNY, Albany. Rachael received a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 2007. Upon returning to Arizona in 2012, Rachael lived in Phoenix and worked as a hospice chaplain and then served the Arizona Department of Corrections. As Assistant Pastor, she preaches, teaches a variety of classes and leads the prayer ministry of our community. She lives with her puppies, Max and Moxie.

David Bio ImageDirector of Music & Organist, David White

David joined the staff in August 2019. Previous to KOG, David served as Director of Music and Organist at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northern Kentucky University and completed the Master of Arts in Church Music in 2017 from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. David enjoys working with both adults and children and leads choirs for all ages. He is an active member of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, American Choral Directors Association and American Guild of Organists. David is married to Amy, and they have three children, Clara, Micah and Ezra.

Christine Bio ImageDirector of Children’s & Family Ministries, Christine Sani

Christine Sani has been the Director of Children’s and Family Ministry since 2017 after moving to Arizona from Colorado. She is a wife and mother of four young children. She lived in Africa for 2 years doing mission work with orphans, widows and church-planting. She returned to America to marry her husband and finish her Master’s degree from Colorado Christian University. She is honored to have the opportunity to invest in KOG kids and families; it is a job she does not take lightly. She has an Associates degree with an emphasis in Elementary Education, a Bachelor’s in Communications and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership. From starting a children’s missions school to being a 3rd-grade and 6th-grade teacher to being the wife of a former youth pastor to nannying and camp counseling, she has had beautiful opportunities to invest in children and has an incredible joy and passion for building up their faith. She loves celebrating motherhood, family and life’s simple joys. In her free time, she enjoys Dance Fusion, Zumba, barre, yoga, swimming, reading and watching shows and movies with her husband.

Karen Bio imageDirector of Health Ministry, Karen Hernandez, BSN, RN

Karen has been the Director of Health Ministries since 1996. She grew up in western Wisconsin and graduated from Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis. Following her move to Phoenix, she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Arizona State University. Karen brings a wonderful, caring atmosphere to our community with encouraging visits to those who are ill or hospitalized, as well as facilitating physical exercise and strengthening classes that benefit many in the congregation on a weekly basis. Prior to joining the staff of King of Glory Lutheran Church, Karen completed the Foundation of Faith Community Nursing course. She has been instrumental in bringing the Tele-coil loop system for hearing better in services and classes. Karen and her husband of 48 years, Moe, are the parents of 3 adult sons and grandparents of 5. Karen enjoys music, singing in various choirs at King of Glory, traveling, walking and reading.

Pre-School Director, Cindy Stark

Cindy has been the director of King of Glory Preschool since 2011. Cindy believes in helping both children and their parents grow cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. One important way to do this is to show them the love and grace of God every time they come to preschool. Cindy has been involved with the Early Childhood Education field for the last 17 years. She taught pre-kindergarten and three-year-olds before beginning her current position as Director. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Education Psychology. She also went through the Director’s Credential program with the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership. She has lived in Arizona for over 49 years and has been in Phoenix since 1990. She has been married for 30 years to an amazing man and has one grown son. Cindy started her career in education in 1989, teaching fourth grade in Tucson. In her free time, Cindy enjoys reading, classic television shows, traveling and hiking.

Crossover Coordinator, Kathy Connors

Kathleen Connors, better known as Ms. Kathy to many of the children at KOG, taught elementary school for 9 years after coming to Arizona from Minnesota in 1971. After having three children of her own, she changed careers and spent 21 years working at SRP as an accountant and financial analyst. Kathy and her husband, Mike, spent many years racing in triathlons and backpacking in the Grand Canyon and the mountains of the West. Life changed a great deal since she retired in 2008. This is in part due to having a big, wonderful family which includes 5 children and 11 grandchildren. One of her great joys is working with and teaching children again, especially as they walk along in their faith journey.

Confirmation Coordinator, Christy Hegebush

Christy Hegebush has enjoyed working with the youth of KOG for many years. Currently, she is serving as the Confirmation Coordinator. Christy also plans and coordinates Youth activities for 7th-12th graders. She enjoys helping the youth of KOG grow in their faith as they learn to live their faith in today’s world. During the week, she is a Special Education teacher for Middle School through High School students. Her teaching in the classroom has helped prepare her to assist the youth of KOG grow in their faith. Christy graduated from NAU with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and received her Masters of Legal Studies from ASU. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two daughters.

Gina Bio imageAdmin Assistant for Membership, Gina Bouk

Gina was born in Ellsworth, Kansas, and moved to Phoenix the summer before she started high school. Gina brings a wealth of administrative knowledge that benefits the King of Glory community in many ways. Gina and her husband, Carl, were members at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church for over 47 years where she worked as the Office Administrator for over 20 years. She retired in January 2016 but responded to God’s calling to the KOG staff as Admin Assistant for Membership in March 2019. She says, “I pray that through God’s Holy Spirit, the body of Christ, known as King of Glory Lutheran Church, will make a difference in your life as He has done in mine!”

Business Administrator, Vicki Hegebush

Vicki was raised in Tempe, Arizona, and went on to explore North Dakota and South Dakota where she received her degree in Business Education with a minor in Religion and Psychology. She received a Masters in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Vicki has been a member of King of Glory since 1975. Prior to working at King of Glory, she taught in the Tempe Union High School District and worked with private businesses. Vicki’s favorite pastime is enjoying her three daughters and sons-in-law and seven grandchildren.

Director of Communications, Nadine Patton

Nadine is a native Kansas farm girl, moving to the big city with her husband and children in 1999. They now have 6 grandchildren, which are her delight and the inspiration for writing the 2 kids’ books she published in 2017 and 2018, titled Angels on Assignment. She loves writing and teaching about the kingdom of God.

Bookkeeper, Keith Hyink

Keith comes to the KOG family with 30+ years of accounting experience. He also has many years as an experienced handyman and enjoys assisting with some of the facility projects and maintenance. Keith was born in Minnesota and raised in South Dakota. He enjoys exploring Arizona trails and backroads.

Pastoral Intern, Frederick Sibben

Frederick studies a lot as he works hard towards his Pastoral Studies degree from Phoenix University. He also has a miraculous recovery story and many life experiences from firefighter to prison chaplain that make him a compassionate listener.

Director of Audio/Visual Technology, Justin Poirot

Justin makes all of us look good when you see KOG online with the technical aspects of each service. He is a gifted technical guy. Justin has a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma.
