HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
King of Glory is pleased to partner with Habit for Humanity of Central Arizona and other local Lutheran churches to build a Habitat home.
We wrapped up our most recent build in April 2022, but look forward to starting a new one in the fall. Volunteering at the worksite on Saturday mornings is available for anyone 16 years or older (18+ to use power tools). This year we can easily use 25-30 volunteers to help on each Saturday. If I can get 5-10 from our group, it would be a blessing. If possible, please pre-register for build events using the link here: Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (volunteerhub.com).
Financial contributions to support this mission are vitally important as well. Donations for Habitat for Humanity can be made online to the Missions/Outreach Fund.
Contributions can also be made through the AZ Qualifying Charitable Tax Credit, which reduces your AZ tax liability dollar for dollar (up to $400 on a joint return, $200 on a single return) for all monetary donations made to Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona. To utilize this option, please make your check out to Habitat for Humanity Central AZ and include Lutherans Building for Christ in the memo. Tax Credit donations can also be made online through Habitat for Humanity. We ask that all KOG member tax credit donations be reported to the Business Administrator to ensure they are credited as part of the congregational donation. Please contact Vicki Hegebush, Business Administrator, for more information.
Please contact Mike Wilkins for more Habitat information.
PAZ DE CRISTO
Paz de Cristo is a community-based organization serving meals to the homeless from their facility near Broadway and Country Club in Mesa. Begun by leadership from St. Timothy’s Catholic Parish, Paz de Cristo now includes many churches, each making a volunteer contribution on a specific day of the month. You can volunteer with Paz as an individual or as a small group. To sign up, or for more information about this charity, please visit their website: pazdecristo.org
STITCH A SMILE

The Stitch A Smile Ministry meets each Thursday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. They work on various projects which include quilts, lap robes, walker bags, turbans, baby sets, etc. Some of the groups who benefit from the items made by these loving hands include Arizona Blankets 4 Kids, local police and firefighters, veterans’ homes, nursing homes, hospital nurseries and cancer patients receiving chemotherapy treatments.
You can participate by sewing with the KOG group or sewing projects at home. Even if you do not sew, you can still help with cutting fabric and other tasks.
Please contact the Church office at info@kogaz.org or 480-838-0477 for more information.
FOOD CART
The King of Glory Food Cart can be found outside the Sanctuary doors each Sunday. All non-perishable food donations and monetary donations made to the Food Cart are used to supply food for those in need through Lutheran Social Ministries. Specific food donation requests are often listed in the Sunday Bulletin, but there is a constant need for macaroni & cheese, ramen noodles, dry spaghetti, spaghetti sauce and peanut butter. Monetary donations allow the organization to purchase other needed food items.
Please contact the church office at info@kogaz.org for more information.
RUUD Memorial – Let the good news in your life be good news for others.
The Ruud Memorial Fund, named after Gordon Ruud, is a wonderful way to let the blessings in your life bless others. All donations made to this fund are used to give crisis support to needy families and children. Contributions are used to assist people when they have nowhere else to turn in times of financial crisis. Gifts are provided from this fund in times of emergency for both members of the congregation and the surrounding community.
We ask a minimum gift of $5, which may be given in celebration for any good news in your life. We then honor, memorialize, thank and celebrate events in our church bulletin for all contributions made to the fund.
Days for Girls International

Our volunteers learn to sew reusable hygiene kits for girls in South Africa to help them achieve a brighter future. Days for Girls International’s (DfG) mission is to address the root cause of a lack of hygiene conveniences that keep too many girls out of school.
Fabric, supplies and instructions are provided at our workshops. If you wish to sew, please bring a sewing machine or serger and/or good scissors. Non-sewing volunteers are needed, too!
For more information, contact Molly Garrison.
